Let’s get Tilly

One of Motel Vintage’s signature styles is the Tilly Dress. A forerunner in lines of years and seasons gone past, we still can’t get enough!! Remade from luxurious vintage mens shirts, their shape seems to glide with the times enabling plenty of looks all in one dress. Peter pan collars and nipped in waists!! What more could a girl need in a daytime dress!?.

A checked Tilly would look great for a 90’s Seattle Grunge look, especially in the darker colours. Add killer heels and fishnets to grunge up your Tilly.  Whereas the lighter, pale textiles work really well for a Darling Lolita outfit. Adorable with long socks and box handbags! Striped Tilly’s always look super vintage when worn with leather brogues and a leather briefcase. Why not be daring and try a pair of retro glasses too! Super geek chic, we love it! If you delve deep enough in the vintage treasure chest, you’re sure to find an abstract retro print that Summer would have a hot Hawaiian flush at the thought of! Phew…. I hope you’ve been taking notes ladies…

Here’s some ideas of how you could wear your Tilly Dress!

We love them all. Find yours today at

Red Alert

May 10, 2011 § Leave a comment

No one can deny that this seasons nailart phoroar is one of the funest hobbies to have! Now obviously being a Vintage Girl and all that, we have to be careful not to let our vintage facade slip! The easiest way to do this is to go with classic Vintage Vixen red nail polish with a simple black design.

Try Polka Dot for retro

Floral for 40’s

Or something a bit more funky for an 80’s look!!

And here’s some vintage pictures and vintage fashion illustrations of red nails we love!

And the best news is that our Sister from another mister Motel Rocks sell the best stuff around, from the fabulously delicious Models Own. YumYum… don’t mind if we do! (www.motelrocks.com)

“OO Behive”

We stand by the logic that fabulous hair is the icing on any vintage outfit. This week we’re loving all things 60s…. Big Beautiful and Bold Beehives.  For the maximum supreme beehive, backcomb from the roots or use a bumpit (best invention since hair Ghd’s!), leave a layer of hair smooth and straight to cover the backcombed ‘hive’ , secure with plenty of hairspray and have plenty of fun with clipping, waving, curling, quiffing, twisting, fringing the front!!!

Here’s some classic beehiving that we love…!
